Morsicatio buccarum

Morsicatio buccarumisa lesion determined by a traumatic occlusion. It presents as a translucent, white line with a scalloped appearance, corresponding to the mark made by the dental crowns on the buccal mucosa; it is frequently caused by the interposing of the teeth on the dental arches. Odontoplasty (generally of cutting vestibular cusps) or the use of a dental protective appliance is recommended in order to reduce the trauma.
